    Since the day of establishment of Azerbaijan National Conservatory the chair of “Mugham” (singer) has been launched. The national artist, Professor Babayev Arif Imran, who has honor and sovereignty awards, heads this chair.

    Since the day of establishment the chair of “Mugham (singer)”, a special syllabus on “Specialty” subject has been worked out. The author of the program is A.Babayev. The chair of “Mugham (singer)” keeps on education on “Specialty” subject.

    Professor and teacher staff of “Mugham (singing)” consists of famous singers. The teachers and students of the chair represent Azerbaijan mugham art on a high level on an international scene. The students studying in the chair of “Mugham (singing)” take part in international competitions beginning from 2005. Majority of these students are laureates of international and republic competitions. They represent our national music and mughams on a high level on international scenes and get achievements.

    The staff consisting of 21 professor-teachers teaches in the chair of “Mugham (singing)”.

  • “Instrumental mugham” Chair

    The chair of “Instrumental mugham” has been launched in 2014 being considered in the Scientific Council on the proposal of the rector Siyavush Karimi and was confirmed being included to teaching program of Azerbaijan National Conservatory. Up to 2004, “Mugham” as a subject had been taught in accordance with the syllabus of the chair of “Mugham (singing)”. When beginning to function as an independent chair since the above stated date the subjects like “Mugham” and “Concertmaster class” has been being taught in the syllabus.

    At present time the following subjects are included to the syllabus of the chair:

    4 Azerbaijan national dance music

    At present time, one of the eight chairs functioning in Azerbaijan National Conservatory is the chair of “Folk musical instruments”. 38 teachers work in this chair. These teachers, besides note-specialty subjects on tar, kamancha, ganun and national wind instruments, also teach chamber ensemble, special pedagogical training, and methodology of teaching specialty subjects.

    Besides it, the members of the chair are the authors of different monographs, methodic recommendations, a lot of articles and thesis published in scientific journals and conference materials.

    The chair of “General piano” of Azerbaijan National Conservatory functions since 2003. Professor-teacher staff of the chair consists of the art figures having rich pedagogical experience and great contribution in improving teaching methodology of the subject.

    The initial task of the teachers of this chair is determination of preparation level of the students correctly, seeing potentials of them in advance and forming piano skills necessary for the activity of professional and perfect activity of the musicians of different specialties.

    Direction of the work conducted with the students conditions their future successful professional activity. The subjects on “General piano” class are one of the main forms of teaching and upbringing work. The teacher of piano class is responsible for musical development of the student and formation of his spiritual outlook.

    18 professor-teachers teach the above mentioned subjects in the chair of “General piano”.

    Among the specialty subjects of ANC the subjects delivered by the chair of “History and theory of music” has a significant role.     In ANC great attention is given to organization of folklore expedition. Valuable materials have been obtained during steppe-field works conducted with the participation of I F.Khaligzada, head teacher Mubariz Aliyev, teacher Khanim Aliyeva, assistant professor Akif Guliyev and others in Ganja, Shaki, Masalli, Shamkir regions of Azerbaijan, as well as in the territory of Iran and Georgia where our compatriots live.

    Bachelor and master works, scientific articles and lectures dedicated to past periods of oral Azerbaijan music and folklore music environments (as Shabran, Masalli, Ordubad) have been prepared. Scientific conferences on international, republic and high school levels have been organized on the initiative of the chair.
