Among the specialty subjects of ANC the subjects delivered by the chair of “History and theory of music” has a significant role. Teaching new subjects as “History of Azerbaijan music”, “Conversion of ashug music into notes” and compilation of some of them (“Azerbaijan folk music creativity”, “Art of ashug music”, “Azerbaijan art of mugham”, “Analyses of folklore samples”) once again will give its benefit to the teaching-education process.

In ANC great attention is given to organization of folklore expedition. Valuable materials have been obtained during steppe-field works conducted with the participation of I F.Khaligzada, head teacher Mubariz Aliyev, teacher Khanim Aliyeva, assistant professor Akif Guliyev and others in Ganja, Shaki, Masalli, Shamkir regions of Azerbaijan, as well as in the territory of Iran and Georgia where our compatriots live.
Bachelor and master works, scientific articles and lectures dedicated to past periods of oral Azerbaijan music and folklore music environments (as Shabran, Masalli, Ordubad) have been prepared. Scientific conferences on international, republic and high school levels have been organized on the initiative of the chair.
